Having annotated most of my recent life I thought it only fair to add a few details to those of my parents. Josephine Mary Cromwell Bush 13/3/1929 - 4/9/2021
and George Francis Gay Hewlett.
They had met at Low Hill farm possibly according to a plan by Elizabeth Wilkinson (later MacAlpine) and my maternal grandmother Marjorie Bush in so far as Marjorie and Elizabeth knew each other from Liverpool and Birkenhead. Dad, (George) had survived POW camp in Germany returning to the UK in 1949 and was working as farm manager for Elizabeth. I think the wedding was in the summer of 1951 which accounts for my birth in the big house in late July 1952
The honeymoon was in Cannes. We lived in 'The Big House' with Elizabeth on the farm for 5 years before moving to the farm cottage. Elizabeth was marrying 'Uncle' (Mac) MacAlpine and as mum's 4th, Julia was imminent the place was getting too crowded. The middle two being Bill and Rosalind.
Dad, having demobbed, worked in forestry after some agricultural college training. Mum had been training and then teaching in Liverpool She and Di Mahoney started and ran the dyslexia clinic '69 to '75 and returned to teaching in 76 until retiring in '88. Dad 1918-1993 had died in West Meon and she had moved via Petersfield and Bournemouth to Winchester
